Pratt Named June EOM

June 9, 2009

MACOMB, IL – Zach Pratt, systems programmer II for Íæż½ã½ã's Technology Infrastructure Support Services, has been named the WIU June Civil Service Employee of the Month.

According to his nominator, because of Pratt's work installing a specialized operating system, for the first time at Íæż½ã½ã, the campus community can access the database through a DB2 connect gateway.

"One of the advantages of this connect is that it allows users to have access to modern software packages which allows them to build robust reports based on mainframe data. These reports can be used to gain better insight into the institution's every day operations and help Íæż½ã½ã save money," his nominator explained. "Zach's technical expertise on Linux and the operating system have proven to be an invaluable asset to the department and has provided opportunities for Íæż½ã½ã to save money.

"In addition, his outstanding efforts have contributed directly to the improved security of the critical data in our system," his nominator added. "Zach's dedication to enhancing the capabilities and efficiency of the WIU system has resulted in greatly improved systems and support for the campus community."

Pratt began working at Íæż½ã½ã in December 2004 as a digital computer operator II in Administrative Information Management Systems. He was promoted to systems programmer I in May 2006 and his position was reclassified to his current job in July 2008.

"Zachary is to be commended for commitment to Íæż½ã½ã," said Laura Caldwell, Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) public relations representative. "Because of his dedication, the University's computing system is further enhanced, which benefits the entire campus community."

Íæż½ã½ã faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for this recognition should contact Caldwell at (309) 298-1000 or e-mail LM-Caldwell@wiu.edu.
