The ż School of Agriculture successfully hosted the 53rd Annual Bull Test Sale on March 7 at the WIU Livestock Center. The evening showcased high-quality bulls, including Angus, Simmental, Percentage Simmental and Red Angus, along with WIU replacement heifers and bred cows, all contributing to a strong and well-attended sale with over 60 registered bidders and over 150 people in attendance.

ż (WIU) is proud to announce Olivia Brodbeck of Batchtown, IL, as a 2025–2026 recipient of the President’s Scholarship, awarded in conjunction with the AIM HIGH ż Commitment Scholarship. This prestigious scholarship provides full coverage of tuition, fees, a double residence hall room and a standard board plan for eight semesters.

To help regional high school students explore these high-paying, in-demand careers, ż and Eastern Iowa Community College will host the Supply Chain Management (SCM) ConNEXT Conference from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, on the WIU Quad Cities campus in Moline.

ż’s School of Agriculture is pleased to announce the recipients of this year’s GAST (Growing Agri-Science Teachers) scholarships. Thanks to funding from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), the program will award $5,000 worth of scholarships to incoming Agricultural Education majors for the 2024 academic year.

The ż Board of Trustees voted unanimously today (Dec. 6) to appoint Kristi Mindrup as the University’s 13th president, effective immediately, making her the first female president in ż’s history. The Board will approve Mindrup’s salary and contract at its March meeting.

ż alumnus Matthew Montgomery, of Chatham, has been named the recipient of the prestigious 2024 Illinois Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Illinois Farm Bureau and the Certified Crop Adviser Board. This award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional service and innovation in nutrient management, soil and water management, integrated pest management and crop production while fostering economically and environmentally sustainable farming practices.

ż and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) share a strong, ongoing partnership that enhances the academic and professional journeys of WIU students in the field of law enforcement. This collaboration provides students with direct pathways to careers within federal agencies and enables the exchange of expertise and resources between WIU’s renowned School of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration (LEJA) and the ATF, which protects the public from crimes involving firearms, explosives, arson, regulates lawful commerce in firearms and explosives and provides worldwide support to law enforcement, public safety and industry partners.

But for one ż alumni couple, the holidays are much more than a season — it's a full-time, joyful calling. Meet the dynamic duo of the North Pole: Adam and Krista Woodworth, class of 1993, proud to be Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Their journey from wide-eyed college students to spreading Christmas magic is a story full of love, surprises and, of course, a touch of WIU pride.

For ż Engineering alumnus Jacob Kida, a journey rooted in persistence and hands-on experience has led to a fulfilling career with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). He graduated in May 2022 with a major in General Engineering and a Civil Emphasis, stepping into his role as a Civil Engineer after working as an Engineering Technician for over seven years.
ż is introducing a new minor in Applied Artificial Intelligence beginning in the Fall 2025 semester at the Macomb campus.
